V.T. Companions That Rock!

I have a great Visiting teaching companion.  She’s the best.  We decided at the first of the year to set a certain day to try and get our visiting teaching done.  Since one of the gals we visit has Mondays off of work, we decided to try for the second Monday of the month.  It’s worked out really well so far.

We acquired a new Sister on our route for this month.  One of our assigned Sister’s moved from the ward, so we got assigned to someone else.  We’ve pretty much have had what you would consider a ‘day’ route.  All of our Sisters have been available to visit with during the day.  I much prefer it that way, because my evenings can get really busy.  This new Sister works full time, which kind of put a wrench in our pre-set plans, or so we thought.

Amy, my companion, came up with a great idea.  She suggested we visit our new Sister on her lunch hour and bring her lunch.  Luckily, this Sister has a pretty flexible job, so she offered to meet us at her house on her lunch hour.  However, Amy still insisted we bring her lunch.

Now… I say ‘we’, when in reality it was Amy who brought it.  And I mean the whole nine yards.  She ran home and brought back a large tray full of all the goodies.  Croissants, ham, turkey, mayo, cheese, fresh fruit, potato salad, a bag of Bugles, Cran-Raspberry juice and a Chex Mix treat for dessert.  She even brought the paper plates, napkins, utensils and cups!  It was literally a picnic on a tray!

We had a ball.  Our new Sister was very appreciative of the gesture, though she said it wasn’t necessary.  It was a fun thing to do…. Even though the only thing I helped with was to consume the food!  We had so much fun, we are going to try and get all of the Sister we teach together for lunch in September, when the kids are back in school.

We really enjoy visiting with all the Sisters that are assigned to us.  It makes is so enjoyable!  And the pre-set date has made the ‘effort’ to get out not seem like an effort at all!  We all have it on our calendar and as long as we give each other a reminder the Sunday before, we are good to go!

I’m grateful for such a thoughtful and fun Visiting Teaching companion.   It’s truly as much fun to be around her as anything else!  I’m grateful for the wonderful Sisters we teach that agree to our set plans. It makes easier on all of us to get the job done!  A job that doesn’t seem like a job at all!!  We’re going for 100% this year!!  We’re 1/2 way there!

I am Grateful!  How are you?
